Helldorado Days

Tombstone has been celebrating Helldorado days since 1929. It's a weekend where town folk and tourists alike dress up in period costumes and pretend that it's 1880 again. After a couple of brews at some of our favorite watering holes, you wouldn't know the difference. There are gunfights in the street, shady ladies hanging out on the corners and motorcycles everywhere. Just keep in mind that guns, even toy guns, are not allowed in the saloons.

On Sunday there was a major parade down Allen Street which included cowboys, cowgirls, cavalry, tractors, horses, and of course motorcycles. There was some very cool and interesting stuff to see. After the mile long procession, we took a stroll back in time down the wooden sidewalks and ducked into the Crystal Palace. Let me tell you, RJ runs great saloon with bands on the weekends and great food and drink. And don't forget the Crystal Palace calendar girls. Pick up a calendar when you're in town. You will have a whole new outlook on life when you turn the page each month.

From there you can go across the street to Six Gun City to watch a gun fight from the outside bar and smoke a stogie. Next we continued on down to The Four Deuces Saloon, where we sat outside in the shade and enjoyed a cold one while eating a burger right off the BBQ grill on the patio.

Many of the bros and sisters that we spoke to from the Phoenix area have never been to Tombstone before. Believe me, this is a great place to hang out. Make plans to come into town for a couple of days any time of the year. For those of us that ride the ol' Iron Horse, there is nothing that says the Old West like Tombstone. No matter which way you get there, it is sure to be a great ride.
